The past month seems to have been filled with predictions of the future and looks back to 2010. Researchers, professionals and consumers have been talking about things that have changed and influenced us over the past year and what we can expect or hope to expect this coming year. The question that often times gets overlooked when talking about the latest and greatest trends and developments is “where are these changes coming from?”.

A recent study, well, more like and experiment conducted by McCann PULSE, asked 20 planning leaders around the world and 50-plus marketers and market commentators for their opinion in creating lists of the 13 cities that really matter. They were asked to write down the five cities, other than their own, that they believed would have the most influence in transforming the lives of people in their country over the next few years.

Here is their list of the most popular.

Facebook: It has become a place you choose to migrate to, where you live and maybe work in micro suburbs you build yourself with “friends” as neighbors. New Delhi

Washington

Dubai

Detroit

Lagos

Mexico City

Miami

Copenhagen

Berlin

Singapore

Dublin

Other cities seen as driving transformation were Sanaa, Dhaka, Accra, Masdar, Jakarta and Istanbul.
