Creativity has been likened to divine intervention, cognative processes, social environment, personality traits and chance. It’s been associated with genius, mental illness, humor and REM sleep. Wherever it comes from, we need it. As a graphic and web designer it can be hard to find inspiration to get those creative juices flowing. Here a few tips that can help.
Watch a movie. I find the classics to be the best for inspiration
Keep a Journal, piece of paper, napkin. Basically anything you can write on and something to write with should be at your reach at all times. You never know when you’ll be struck by lightening and when it happens you better be prepared.
Switch to your non-dominant hand during tasks like brushing your teeth to engage the right side of your brain.
Brainstorm. Write down a list of words related to your project. Try using ThinkMap’s Visual Thesaurus to help.
Dip into your reference files. If you don’t have one, start making one by collecting ads, pictures, scripts, writings, and anything else you find unique or interesting.
Finally, surf the web. There are tons of places out there that host some of the best and most unique logos, art pieces, and website functions.
Rather than troll the Internet aimlessly, use this list to help you zero in on logo inspiration.
