“There’s an app for that” has a whole new meaning on a regional level spanning across a national platform. PALO Creative has developed a new mobile application that recently hit the market for a large manufacturing corporation. HoseFinder, created for Parker Hannifin Corporation’s Hose Product Division, makes it fast and convenient to search for hydraulic hose products and information while on the go or in the field. The application features the abbreviated S.T.A.M.P. selection process, enabling the user to specify preferred Size, Temperature and Pressure criteria. Parker Hannifin is the first hose manufacturer to market this type of smartphone app, specifically developed for the iPhone but is available for the Blackberry and Andorid phones as well.
PALO Creative’s interactive director Nick Miller spearheaded the development. He said it was a great opportunity to help a product-based company get new merchandise to the market instantly. “In the past, when a product was launched, it would take about 18 months for distributors to see it. But now, they can have all the updated information at their fingertips immediately, as well as, where the distributor is located to purchase it,” Miller said.
PALO discovered the opportunity for this mobile app solution because the Hose Products Division of Parker Hannifin wanted a way to mobilize itself and its sales staff. After some initial research, PALO’s interactive team developed an app that allows consumers to search for hoses, fittings and crimpers by size, temperature and pressure. Rob Palowitz, PALO’s president, said, “Having the hose product selection in the palm of your hand dynamically takes sales support to another level that ultimately should provide long term customer loyalty”.
Users of the app can also look through the Hose Division’s technical video library, find the nearest distributor to them and with a quick one touch, send the information to an email address.
